Public discussion on security issues in schools

On May 8, the Rustavi Center for Civic Engagement discussed the amendments to the law on safety of the school. Public Discussion at the Parliament of Georgia, Mariam Jashi, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture, MP Giorgi Begadze, Deputy Governor of Kvemo Kartli Kakha Koberidze, City Mayor, Irakli Tabagua, Head of Rustavi Educational Resource Center, Tamar Khechikashvili, Local Public School Director The representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Resource Officers attended the event.

The meeting focused on the specific regulations that envisage the need to improve the legislative base regulating the mandatory institution and introduction of new regulations.

The aim of the draft law is to make the Independent Institute of Resource Officers more secure in the school environment, to create information leverage and coordination leverage between the Ministry of Education and Science, the Office of Resource Officers and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as to eliminate individual legislative shortcomings.

The meeting was held in question-answer mode where participants expressed their opinions regarding the draft law.
