On December 13, in the Kvemo Kartli administration, the state trustee-governor's administration aimed to improve the municipal waste management system. The meeting was attended by First Deputy Governor of Kvemo Kartli Aleksandre Metreveli, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection, foreign expert and representatives of municipal self-governments. At the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the current and modern experience in the implementation of the Waste Management Action Plan. Planned for the future, jointly, events to be implemented.It is noteworthy that the 18-month technical assistance project on the initiative of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection and the EU financial support has begun on October 16, 2008 to improve waste management system in Georgia. The project consists of the following three main components, which aim to improve the legislation in the field of waste management, in line with the requirements of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, to develop hazardous waste management system in Georgia and to strengthen administrative capacity at the central and local level.
